Children's Eyes
Your Children’s vision and eyes are most important. They need to be assessed early to ensure that visual system develops to its maximum capacity through regular professional eye care.
- Does your child complain of reduced vision?
- Do they hold a book very close to their eyes?
- Have a short attention span?
- Have a drop in scholastic performance?
- Poor hand and eye co-ordination?
- Frequently rub or blink their eyes?
- Complain of headaches?
- Cover one eye?
- Turn their head or move their head whilst reading?
- Omit or repeat words when reading aloud?
Orthoptic investigations check that the two eyes work well together and that they get treatment for a lazy or amblyopic eye, including squint management and dyslexia.

We will check for several conditions:
- Astigmatism - where the eye is shaped more like a rugby ball rather than a football
- Myopia - where near objects are seen more clearly than those at a distance
- Hyperopia - where far objects are seen more clearly than near ones
- Amblyopia - (Lazy Eye) a condition in which vision is underdeveloped causing reduced visual acuity.
- Strabismus - (Squint) this occurs when eyes are not properly aligned with each other.
