Glaucoma

Glaucoma occurs when there is an abnormal increase in the intra ocular pressure (IOP). This can effect one or both eyes. As the IOP rises the eye becomes harder and compresses the optic nerve. This damages the nerve fibres and tiny blood vessels supplying the nerve with oxygen and other nutrients. The damaged nerve leads to deterioration of field of vision. Loss of visual field occurs at the centre and edges of the field of vision. In advanced stages of the disease the view becomes narrower producing tunnel vision. Here at Drayton House Clinic your glaucoma is treated as individually as you are, our dedicated team are trained to provide you with optimum care using the very latest equipment for diagnosis and treatment.
