Can Cataracts Grow Back?

Sometimes your vision can gradually become cloudy again after cataract surgery. This may be due to capsular fibrosis.

This happens when cells are deposited as a membrane between the optic of the implant and the capsule after cataract surgery. This often referred to as a secondary cataract. Vision can easily be restored by using YAG laser to create a new hole in the membrane.

This is done safely and painlessly in our clinic in Southport. You can be referred directly to the clinic by your GP or Optometrist, consultation and treatment in one visit to our clinic.

YAG laser light creates a hole in the membrane with no need for a knife. This laser surgery requires no anaesthesia other than eye drops.

Bursts of YAG laser energy vaporise the centre of the cloudy membrane and restore your vision within minutes. Since the laser energy enters the eye without cutting it from the outside there is no risk of infection.

If your vision has decreased since you had cataract surgery, we recommend that you have a complete eye examination. The YAG laser may be your key to improved vision.
