What is Prelex Refractive Lens Exchange
Yes it is true, you can experience clearer vision without glasses at our iSIGHT Clinics we can halt the process of presbyopia by exchanging your own natural lens for a multi-focal lens implant. By doing so in both eyes, you will regain your ability to focus at all distances without the need for glasses in most circumstances.
Surgeons at iSIGHT Clinics have been using multifocal lenses since 1999 with excellent results. The Array lens by AMO is currently the most tried and tested multi-focal lens on the market.
With the advances in technology we now have available at iSIGHT Clinics an extended choice of multifocal lenses including the latest in hinged lenses all offering near intermediate and distance vision.
At your consultation at the clinic you will have the opportunity to discuss with our ophthalmic team your particular requirements. This will enable you to make an informed choice of the type of lens that is suitable to your lifestyle.

PreLex is identical to a cataract operation where the clear lens is removed before a cataract is formed. One of the benefits of Prelex is that you will never need a cataract operation later on. Accurate measurements of your eye are taken prior to surgery. This is called Biometry.
- Local anaesthetic is given to make your eye numb.
- The surgeon then makes a tiny incision and removes your own natural lens.
- A replacement multi-focal lens is implanted within your eye.
- The operation takes about 15 minutes.
