Squint Treatment - Glasses
Long sight can be a cause of convergent squint. Our Ophthalmologist will decide whether or not your child needs glasses after testing his/her eyesight. Wearing the spectacles will correct the squint as well as the long sight. Eyesight is tested in younger children by instilling eye drops to make the pupils bigger.
Our optometrist will measure what strength lens is needed by shining a special light into the eye and seeing how its reflection is changed.
In older children, a normal sight test is performed.
Once your child has been prescribed glasses, he/she will have to wear them all the time, unless advised otherwise. All children have glasses with plastic lenses, which are lighter in weight and less likely to break.
